Anifa

What's it about

Anifa is a film about a young woman who, after the sudden death of her husband, strives to keep his kabaza (motorcycle) business running. In the African community, it is often considered inappropriate for a woman like Anifa to enter professions deemed "men-only." However, she must find a way to defy these norms to support herself and her three children.

Director Eric Chandilanga: "We believe this film will spark discussions around gender inequalities due to cultures, religion and beliefs".

Chandilanga created a trailer for "Anifa" to raise financial support for the film's production. By giving a glimpse of Anifa's story, Eric aims to attract financial backing that will enable the film to reach a wider audience and make a significant impact on discussions around gender inequality.

Jonathan Dube Tembo (left) with the boys on the street

Giving street kids perspective through music recording. That's the goal of Street Records. And with your help, we can continue to do this!

From a mobile studio in the trunk of his car, musician and producer Jonathan Dube Tembo records the songs of streetkids. These young people live on the streets of Blantyre, a city in southern Malawi. For them, recording their songs is no small thing. They finally feel heard and seen! Resulting in a huge boost of self-esteem.

Why Street Records Works
The number of streetkids living on the streets in Blantyre is growing. They beg or work black. At night, some get involved in theft or offer sexual services. These boys and girls need someone to approach them positively and empower them - Jonathan is that person. He offers them a chance to discover their talent and be proud of what they can do.

Listen to the song Chikondi china by Zacchaeus Butao (aka Ghecko) here.

Why do we need your help?
Streetkids deserve to be seen and heard so that they feel they matter and can discover their talent. To make this happen, we need 7.000 euros. With this we will cover the costs for:

• A reliable car to serve as a mobile recording studio.
• Solar panel on the roof to make recordings anywhere.

Help with your donation
With your donation you give the youth from the streets of Blantyre the chance to stay away from criminal activities and make themselves heard through music. You help develop their talent and contribute to them being able to be a positive example to others!

Donate now for a car or solar panel and ensure that Jonathan can continue to record the songs of these young people. Please also share this great initiative in your network so that together we can achieve even more for these young people. Thank you!
